Ann McLean
Quadra
A solid rock, a rough cut gem
Polished by the surging narrows.
The summer sun beams iridescent light
Revealing hidden facets of this ocean jewel.
Clear sparkling lakes reflect the northwest sky.
Green forests cloak the rugged mountains high.
Soft breezes kiss the misty island's shore.
Chasing rainbows
Where orcas sing and eagles soar.
Island Garden
A hundred thousand welcomes
To our garden by the sea.
Where the bright begonias blossom
By the shady maple tree.
View the ocean from the front lawn
As the ships go sailing by.
You may even see an eagle
As he sweeps across the sky.
When the flowers and trees are blooming
And the place is looking grand
Come share our piece of heaven
In this green and pleasant land.
Island Image
A pebble on an ocean vast
A million years before the mast.
A pearl forged by tidal surge
Pure beauty by the tempest purged.
Green grandeur clad the barren rock
Where eagle gull and heron flock.
Time and tide refined this jewel
Who's beauty grew with natures fuel.
Through winter storm and summer rain
Fair Quadra's soul is born again.
