I was born in a town near Tokyo, and live in Tokyo now.
I was in a Japanese contemporary performing art group when I was young, around the end of 1970's. In those days I painted pictures, made strange dolls, wrote poems, and occasionally was a performer. Till the middle of 1990's, I had taken part in several contemporary art events in Tokyo.
I got a prize at the short film contest in 1991. After that, in 1995, I entered a distance course at university thinking to broaden my knowledge, and continued studying. I studied art history, philosophy, aesthetics and visual culture and managed to obtain two bachelor's degree.
In 1998 I published a small book called "A Closed Garden". My painting has been mostly self-taught since I was overwhelmed by Salvador Dali's work at the age of 15.
Now most of my pictures are first drawn by pencil and pen, and then treated with CG tools. I paint with pastel and tempera also now. |
