When I heard, that the company management of our local newspaper Folketidende are planning to move the local editorial staff to another city, my immediate reaction was to initiate a petition to stop this lunatic decision.
Now you might think " this doesn't concern me" well in one way it does, since
those guys write a lot about art & culture and Avisen-avk's Art gallery, where you are a
member. All who is writing about art culture are important even for you, no matter if they are small or far away.
If the editorial staff move, there will be nobody left to write about art & culture, and that's a horrible thought.
The reason we ask for your help is that maybe a couple of thousand signatures from abroad, (something I´m sure they never have experienced before) can make the company management to change their mind.
So we urge you to support them in the fight against the closing and moving of

Another thing that has kept us busy lately is, that after having red a request to the people in a newspaper about supporting the collection for the two small boys Berthel and Victor,(4 and 6 years old who lost their parents in a tragic accident).
We have chosen to contribute by donating 2 sculptures from the serie Joy Bringer made by Bo Sigvardson and started an auction to support Berthel og Victor.

It supposed to be spring in the south part of Denmark but it is more like summer. The last couple of weeks we have had sunny days with temperatures from 22 to 25 degrees Celcius which is unusual this time of the year. The birds are nesting in our garden and it’s just lovely.

A while ago Bo was interviewed in american radio, where he talked about all our artists for half an hour, and it all went so well that they asked him to participate again next month. He really got the possibility to give our artists/members a lot of publicity.
Afterwards we noticed a heavy increase in the number of visitors.

The winter here is not much to brag about, some snowflakes came the other day but has already gone away. Today it is just gray, cloudy and wet. It is more like early spring than winter, the pigeons and titmice are probably confused and two months ahead with nesting. Normally they doesn't’t start nesting until april here in the south part of Denmark, anyway it’s so nice to hear all the chirping in the garden, even if it is a bit early on the year.

International Art Contest 2007.

Why not let millions of people around the world view and vote for your artwork, can it be more fair than that. Consider it as a global exhibition round the clock for many months.

Application must have been received and accepted by Avisen-avk the 15th of January 2007.

Voting open at the 16th of January and close the 15th of May 2007.

Winners will be notified and published the 30th of May 2007

The purpose of the contest is to provide an introduction to active artists, create interaction between artists worldwide, and offer a window to what is going on in the world of popular and contemporary art.

Contest Prizes
There are no cash prizes for this event yet. All artists that participate will have the honour

of being exposed on the international Avisen-avk site which has hosted this world wide Art Contest.

Selection of the winners is by the vote from all our visitors world wide (not a biased jury).

Awards are offered to the winners, with their entries featured on Avisen-avk's home page.

The Contest is open to all active artists internationally.

The artwork will be displayed for online voting and judging from 16 Jan 2007 - 15 May 2007.

The judging is via the Internet and decided by thousands of visitors.

Announcement of the winners will be made on 30th May with the results featured online.

One entry is allowed per artist. Avisen-avk reserves the final decision.

The application shall include a photograph file for web presentation which is to be uploaded

to our server (or sent by email). The image file must be .jpg or .gif - 550 x 400 pixel @ 72 dpi (minimum). Smaller images are not suitable.

Copyright of entered artworks remains with the artist who agrees to grant permission to Avisen-avk to use the submitted material in exhibits on the Avisen-avk web site, other media for marketing and printing for offline marketing. You must accept that all entries are permanently archived and displayed online. Your permission to display the entry for the contest and later in the archives cannot be reversed and its use or removal is entirely at the discretion of Avisen-avk.

An application fee of €10, US$13 is to be paid when you submit your application form.

The application fee is not refundable.

Mixed images in Google!!

We have got some mails from our members regarding mixed images in Googles search engine assuming that we can fix it. Mixed images means that when you search for your name, some other artists image is coming up instead of your image.
We add all our members manually one by one that’s why the chance for mixing images is zero,
so we cannot do anything about this issue, it is Google who don't show their search results properly. The only advice we can give is that you contact Googles, we have done it several times and we encourage others to do the same, so that Googles can improve their search results and show the proper results.

Do you need a web site or your old one redesigned?

Why not let Birgitta help you build it, she is really professional.

We want to take the opportunity to thank you all for your participation in our Avisen-avk's ArtGallery.

It has been some overwhelming,joyfulandquitebusy 14 months since we started
Avisen-avk's Art Gallery. We really appreciate all the kind and cheerful mails we have received during the year, Thank you very much it has helped us in our work that sometimes has felt very hard. Today we are 2662 members from 96 countries and the number increases every day. We are planning to implement new possibilities next year and welcome any further comments and ideas.

After receiving lots of mails from our members expressing their desire to show more images, and other art information in Avisen-avk's Art Gallery we looked into it and to satisfy those wishes we finally decided to open up a new commercial site as a complement to Avisen-avk's Art Gallery instead of changing the Art Gallery. Unfortunately we cannot do this for free since it cost us a lot of money to maintain the web sites, pay for server space, bandwidth, software etc. and also some bread on the table. So why not give your self a nice Christmas gift by taking the opportunity to join our new site called Art Shop International or wish for a membership as Christmas gift from friends or family.

Some info about Skype
You does not need to change your current phone company to use Skype. It is a small program you download and install on your computer. You find it at www.skype.com It takes about 2 minutes to install, after that you can talk with people all over the world for free from PC to PC. You can also make calls to ordinary phone. It should be safer to use Skype than an ordinary telephone. We have used Skype for about 10 months now and never had any problems with it. Besides talking you can exchange files, use chat for writing messages in a split second. If you experience problems with the sound, check out the sound preferences and sound card.

NB. I do not earn money to recommend Skype I just think it is a good program. Our phone bill has dropped from about 250 $ to 10 $ / month. Save money and use Skype.

History
It has now gone 8 months since we launched Avisen avk's Art Gallery, it has become a great success / work and the number of members has escalated beyond our wildest dreams.

Today the 7 June 2005 we are 2056 members from 84 countries and the number increases every day, which is exceedingly joyful.
We have many ideas, but haven't had enough time to evolve any new ventures due to all the applications we daily receive.
Many of our members have got the impression that we are many co-workers; in reality, there are only two of us, I and my webmaster/wife Birgitta.

About Spam mail
I will take the opportunity to inform you a bit about spam, Nigeria letters and other offers that keeps pouring in to our mail boxes.

Spam and unsolicited e-mails is the sad part of the Internet and unfortunately, you cannot avoid it as long as you use an e-mail address anywhere on the Internet. The only positive thing I can say about spam is, that if you now think you receive more spam and other offers than earlier you should be happy, since it testify to the fact that your art is displayed to hundred of thousands more art loving people throughout the world. Your art also is to find in many more search engines, since we continuously add Avisen-avk to different search engines.

It is a very interesting site where you can read and learn much about spam and also get factual explanation e.g. about Nigeria mails. The address is also available at the main page of Avisen-avk (in the white bulletin board).

Spam fighter
To avoid a lot of spam mails in our own mailbox we have installed a program called Spam fighter, we have tested it for a while and it works very fine, in only a week the amount of spam mails has been reduced 95%.
You can download Spam fighter at this address www.spamfighter.com (NB I am not paid by the company for recommending this program, I just think it works fine)

It is easy to install and easy to use. With this program, you also have the possibility to block for unwanted mails. With only one click, the program is available in many languages including English; there is also a lot of information about spam mails at their homepage.

Be cautious
Most likely, you will sooner or later receive offers about participation in biennials, art books, art contests etc. A friendly advice, be careful, many of them just look at your money and are not at all interested in your art, maybe they have not even seen your art but bought your email. Many seem to be serious, but in reality only a few are.

Summer
Here in Denmark the summer has arrived and we have mostly nice weather, but today the sun is trying to chase the clouds away without any luck so far.

History
It is now about 4 months since Avisen-avk's Art Gallery was founded and today 07-02-05
we are 1118 members from 67 different nations and the number increases daily.
We have received a lot of positive response and that we really appreciate, a big Thank you for that.

Changes
Since we make changes and additions on the site nearly every day, it's a good idea to often visit our site to check it out, so that you do not miss anything that could be of any interest for you. We have now for example a billboard on the main page where we intend to write information of current interest.

Information about the Florence Biennial
Have you been participating in Biennial Internazionale Dell'Arte Contemporanea, Firenze, Italy?
If so, we are very interested to hear about your experiences regarding the exhibition, good or bad.
